BAG Networks and Royal Brunei Airlines yesterday teamed up to distribute bottled ZamZam water to Muslim patients at Ripas Hospital.
The move was to provide community services during the holy month of Ramadhan, which includes charity work and handing out donations.
Established in July 2001, BAG Networks had initially planned to hand out monetary donations, however, it later decided to go with the unique idea of distributing bottled ZamZam water as Muslims consider it sacred as it comes from a specific source in Saudi Arabia. It is also believed to have many healing properties which can expedite recovery.
On hand to present the bottled water were CEO of both BAG Networks and RBA. Meanwhile, 30 BAG Networks employees and eight RBA personnel were on hand to facilitate the event.
RBA took care of the transportation and logistics of the bottled ZamZam water from Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam as it cannot be legally exported from the country for commercial sale, said BAG Networks representative Pg Hj Emran PSW Pg Hj Ahmad.
It will be distributed to all government hospitals in the four districts.
Recipient Hjh Aini bte Hj Abdul Rahman, 55, expressed her gratitude for the bottled water, saying that she would usually ask friends and relatives to bring back bottled ZamZam water when they perform the pilgrimage.
Hjh Aini has made it a daily ritual to drink ZamZam water, believing it's a form of medicine which is good for her health.
