BBandar Seri Begawan - Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), BAG Networks, MMS Tekad, Sri Sentosa Sdn Bhd, Hertz International and Soartech Systems Sdn Bhd are amongst the local establishments who have secured their participation in the inaugural Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Forum (BRIDEX) 2007
These participating companies will be joining other local and international companies in BRIDEX 2007, which is aimed at showcasing and promoting their latest products, to explore the potential of establishing defence business ventures and the development of the local defence industry, as well as to establish networks among relevant defence counterparts.
With the event drawing near, many exhibitors have secured their involvement in the event. So far, a total of 108 exhibitors are participating in BRIDEX 2007.
Meanwhile, the forum is aimed at creating an interactive discussion, as well as to exchange knowledge and experiences among experts, government officials, academicians and private sector on selected topics related to defence and security, disclosed MINDEF in a press release recently.
About 15 international speakers from renowned international defence conglomerates, including the Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, BAE Systems, Defence Export Service of the United Kingdom (DESO), SAAB, Kestral Holdings of Pakistan, Vosper Technologies, Lockheed Martin, Stemcor, DSO National Laboratories, Singapore and Blenheim Capital Services, are expected to make a presentation during the two-day forum.
According to the Permanent Secretary at MINDEF, Dato Paduka Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat, in an interview with RTB recently, BRIDEX 2007 hopes to highlight the importance of technology in strengthening the defence and security of the country.
"We will be focusing on three main technological areas, namely homeland security, an area where I think most countries have allocated huge amount of resources in the interest of strengthening its security. Secondly, countries are developing a capability in the form of a network sound system called C4ISR (Command, Control, Computer, Communications, Intelligence and Surveillance Reconnaissance), and lastly, an area which is now increasingly becoming very popular amongst defence establishments, -is the development of unmanned vehicles.
""Since this is an international event, we are expecting to see a lot of foreign visitors. With that, an economic spin-off for our local industry, such as hotels or the tourism industry, will defmitely benefit a lot from this process," he added. Dato Hj Mustappa also hoped all agencies involved in the event will come forward and support them in making sure that BRIDEX 2007 will come out as a very successful event.
