Technology company BAG Networks continued its team building
efforts among its employees by holding its quarterly meeting
again. Some 70 of its personnel attended the event at the
Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong yesterday.
BAG Networks, established five years ago, is a joint
venture between Brunei Darussalam and Accentur. Bruneians
comprise the majority of the company's workforce.
Marketing and Communication Team Leader Pg Emran PSW Pg
Ahmad said the quarterly meeting is a venue for staff from all
departments to interact through the team-based activities held
prior to the open forum.
The company ``encourages interaction'' and working together
as a team during games such as tug-of-war, he said.
Updates on staff and management performance, the company's
future plans and expectations were also shared during the
meeting.
BAG's General Manager Mohammed Shakharulain said the
meeting presented an opportunity for members of staff to
``understand the bigger picture'' in the company's
development, and to further understand the team dynamics in
BAG.
He enumerated several issues being faced by Bruneian
companies nowadays, starting from employees preferring to work
for the government. By addressing what ``pushes away'' an
employee and what makes an employee stay is important for
companies to understand and to be able to retain its staff, he
said.
BAG pays attention to these factors and takes care of its
employees welfare by offering incentives and holding of
gatherings to allow staff to feel a ``sense of belonging'' or
``emotional attachment'', the general manager further noted.
He said BAG does not just offer employment, but also
academic opportunities to learn IT-based skills. The company
is willing to train fresh graduates who apply regardless of
their field of study, said Shakharulain.
He further noted that aligned with government expectations,
the company creates job opportunities for fresh graduates.
Last month alone the company hired eight people.

understand each other's path''.The Brunei Times
