It began its operation in October 1999 and the centre also has an Early Developmental Programme with the main objective to prepare children with special needs to join mainstream schooling.

The centre has also worked closely with other government and non-governmental agencies such as Special Education Unit of the Education Ministry, Pusat Bahagia, Ministry of Welfare, Youth & Sports, Pusat Ehsan and SMARTER.

At the Raya gathering, Awg Mahmud and Pg Hj Emran also gave away "green packets" to the children, who were also entertained by local artists belting out Hari Raya songs. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
